More than 130 blankets, along with scarves and toiletries, have been distributed to people living on the streets through a joint outreach by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela and Cross the Divide in Johannesburg.
Volunteers handed out 136 blankets as part of a winter support drive aimed at vulnerable communities, with recipients also given the opportunity to choose items that suited them.
The initiative formed part of ongoing efforts by 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela, a nationwide movement encouraging handmade donations to support those in need, while Cross the Divide assisted in reaching people experiencing homelessness.

Digital Learning Centre opens in Hillbrow

new Digital Learning Centre has opened at the BG Alexander Estate in Hillbrow, giving Grade 7 to 9 learners access to coding, robotics and digital skills training.
The facility was launched through a partnership between Netstar and MES and includes programmes focused on technology, problem solving and teamwork.
Schools in the surrounding area will also be able to use the centre, expanding access to skills that can support future careers in technology and innovation.

US aerospace company Beta Technologies has completed a major flight milestone with its ALIA electric aircraft, adding momentum to the push toward cleaner aviation.
While not the first electric aircraft ever developed, the ALIA is part of a new generation of practical electric planes designed for real world commercial use, including short regional routes.
The aircraft can be fully recharged in around 50 to 60 minutes using high powered charging systems, supporting quicker turnaround times for operations.
The development reflects growing progress in making electric aviation a viable alternative for reducing emissions in the transport sector.
