Johannesburg hosts World Hunger market day

The City of Johannesburg's Department of Social Development Food Resilience Unit, together with Diepkloof Square, held a market day to mark World Hunger Day last Thursday.
Small-scale farmers, agro-processors and local businesses from Diepkloof and surrounding areas displayed food products and goods linked to local production.
The initiative forms part of plans to use unused land behind the shopping centre for a community garden aimed at boosting local food production and income opportunities.
Exhibitors used the event to promote their products and highlight the role of locally grown food in strengthening food security.

Cancer Survivors Race For Awareness Campaign

Cancer survivors across South Africa will take part in the Totalsports Women’s Race in Johanensburg, Durban and Cape Town in August 2026 to raise awareness of cancer and support early detection efforts.
The event partners with PinkDrive to provide education and screening programmes across the country.
Participants include women who have undergone cancer treatment and continue to take part in physical activity as part of their recovery and long-term health.
The race brings together survivors, families and communities to support cancer awareness initiatives.
