Randfontein Nurse Wins National Award After Delivering Baby in Parking Lot
Story 1
Randfontein professional nurse Khomotso Comfort Ramabokela (29) has been nationally recognised after safely delivering a baby in a parking lot near Randfontein Private Hospital.

Using his experience from working in the hospital’s emergency and labour wards, and his midwifery training from Vaal University of Technology, he acted quickly despite the challenging conditions.
He placed the woman in the back seat of a car, ensured privacy with a sheet, and maintained a safe, sterile environment for the delivery.

US Developer Builds Entire Wildfire-Resilient Community in California
Story 2
One of America’s largest homebuilders, KB Home, has unveiled a wildfire-resilient housing development in Escondido, California.
The Dixon Trail community features 64 homes designed to the highest wildfire protection standards, with fire-resistant roofs, vents, and landscaping.
Each home includes a five-foot noncombustible buffer, while structures are spaced over 10 feet apart to prevent the spread of flames.
The goal is to reduce the risk of damage from embers, heat, and direct fire—helping buyers feel safer in high-risk areas.
Homes are selling for around $1 million, and some have already been snapped up.
Experts say this model could redefine how homes are built in fire-prone regions.
