This morning, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi and MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela unveiled the province’s new tamper-proof number plate system at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.

The system includes forensic QR codes, tamper-evident decals, and a digital portal to tackle vehicle theft, fraud, and cloning, while improving road safety and law enforcement.

It will first be piloted on g-Fleet vehicles over six months before a province-wide rollout.

The province is also welcoming new traffic officers from the RTMC to boost enforcement efforts.
