Honeydew Police Captain Honoured for Outstanding Commitment
Story 1

Captain Michael Erasmus has received the prestigious Goodwill Shield from the Honeydew Community Police Forum, recognising his exceptional dedication and service.
For two full weeks, Erasmus voluntarily served as the sole duty officer while also managing the entire detectives’ office — a responsibility usually shared among several senior officers.
The CPF says the award is reserved for officers who go beyond the call of duty to serve their communities.
Public relations officer Michael Steyn praised Erasmus for stepping up under pressure, calling his actions a shining example of leadership and selflessness.
The forum hopes the award not only honours Erasmus’s hard work but also inspires others within the police service to serve with the same passion and commitment.

Story 2
Animal Welfare Helderberg’s dogs are set to stay cozy this winter thanks to more than 220 colourful jackets donated and sewn by a generous community team.
Led by Lyndsay McEwan, a dedicated sewing group and fabric donors including Studio 47 Somerset West worked together to make sure every shelter dog gets extra warmth this cold season.
The shelter praised everyone involved, from sewing volunteers to anonymous fabric donors, for their kindness and support.
While caring for stray and surrendered animals, Animal Welfare Helderberg also runs sterilisation and vaccination projects to help local communities and improve animal welfare despite limited funds.
The jacket project continues as more fabric donations are still coming in, spreading love and comfort to the shelter’s furry residents.

Silverstar Casino Boosts Wings of Inspiration with R90,000 Donation
Story 3
Wings of Inspiration, a Krugersdorp-based charity supporting vulnerable women, children and the elderly through shelters, daycare and frailcare centres, has received a generous R90,000 donation from Silverstar Casino.
The funds were raised through Silverstar’s Winning with Wings gaming promotion, which added R10 for every Tombola ticket entered during the final draw on June 29.
Silverstar initially pledged R50,000, but strong community participation increased the total donation to R90,000.
The money will help Wings of Inspiration continue providing vital care services in Krugersdorp and Randfontein.
Centre manager Gerda Bekker expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying the support means the world and will greatly assist the most vulnerable members of the community.
Silverstar emphasises this initiative is part of its wider commitment to uplift the West Rand through healthcare, education and welfare projects.
