MSI Targets Safer Streets in 2026

The Melville Security Initiative aims to make communities safer and reduce crime in 2026. According to Danny Nunes of MSI, the organisation will continue working closely with security partner Beagle Watch to protect Melville, Richmond, and Auckland Park North.
The initiative has submitted a Safe Streets application to the city, proposing the installation of boom gates to improve security, and is awaiting feedback while continuing to pursue the project in the year ahead.

A Northern Cape police sergeant has been praised for her compassion and community spirit after donating food, clothing, toys, and snacks to four vulnerable children in her neighbourhood. SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thabo Litabe said the initiative was led by Sergeant Lillian Moroka of the Provincial Firearms, Liquor and Second-Hand Goods Unit. Moroka identified the children earlier this year while travelling home from work and began saving money to support them.

Brescia House School learner Grace Prince represented South Africa at the Orange Cup Lifesaving Championships in Rotterdam. This comes after being selected for Lifesaving SA’s President’s Team. Competing at the Zwemcentrum, she raced in nine events against top international athletes. Prince achieved a seventh-place finish in the 100m Manikin Tow with Fins and helped her relay team come within seconds of breaking a national record. She also took part in five individual events, approaching the competition with determination, humility, and pride in representing her country.
