South Africans have donated over 22,000 old race medals to children in hospitals and schools across the country through the HAHA Bling for Bravery charity.
Last month Sportsman and blogger--Running Mann shared the initiative and volunteers across the country helped coordinate collections.
Medals will be distributed to orphanages, children’s hospitals, schools, and medical organisations, turning these tokens into badges of courage for young patients.
The project, founded by Dean Dicks, recognises young patients undergoing surgery and recovery by giving them donated medals as symbols of achievement.
