Mayibuye iAfrika Concert to Celebrate SA’s Musical Heritage

Guitarist and composer Billy Monama will stage the Mayibuye iAfrika Concert: The Rebirth of Ubuntu at the State Theatre in Pretoria on Saturday.
The event pays tribute to icons such as Miriam Makeba, Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse, Sibongile Khumalo, Lucky Dube and Johnny Clegg, with their work reimagined by artists including Simphiwe Dana, Judith Sephuma, Langa Mavuso, Maleh and Elvis Blue.

Durban Beachfront Piers Open with Enhanced Safety for Festive Season

Piers along the Durban Beachfront will remain open throughout the December 2025 festive season, with extra security measures in place.
An additional 135 security guards have been deployed across central beaches, the Bluff, and Umhlanga to ensure visitor safety.
The eThekwini Municipality says the plan aims to manage public safety, service delivery, and tourism, while allowing residents and tourists to enjoy the city’s sights.
Officials are also exploring ways to enhance the piers, including colourful designs and creating vibrant activity zones, making the beachfront both safer and more appealing during the holidays.

The World Health Organization says more than 86 million girls in high-risk countries have received the HPV vaccine since 2023.
Health experts report that these vaccination efforts could protect around 1.4 million women from future cervical cancer deaths. Countries including Cuba, Pakistan, and Rwanda launched new HPV programmes this year.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that expanding vaccination, screening, and treatment is creating momentum towards eliminating the disease.
