Tech FoundHER Africa challenge crowns winners at JSE Sandton

The Tech FoundHER Africa Challenge was recently held at JSE in Sandton, where ten women founders of businesses from across the continent competed.
Five of them received equity-free grants worth more than 1-million-7-thousand-rand.
The challenge attracted 1,163 submissions from tech founders across Africa, highlighting the depth of talent that often goes overlooked, especially among women working in the digital economy.
It aims to address a R720b funding gap that continues to limit economic growth and job creation.
South Africa CEO and executive director of Naspers and Prosus, Phuthi Mahanyele-Dabengwa is proud of the winners, saying they represent the next generation of tech leaders.

World governing body Fifa is planning to implement the video-assistant referee system for the awarding of corner kicks at next year’s World Cup in Northern America.
This is despite domestic leagues being against the measure, meaning FIFA will have to organise a trial first to be able to use it in the tournament.
FIFA’s head of referees, Pierluigi Collina, is also in favour of a change that will see any error that can quickly be identified by VAR, potentially be communicated to the on-field referee.
