This year's African Critical Minerals Summit will focus on how Africa can use innovation and sustainability to boost its role in the global economy.
This is according to the summit's Director Tshegofatso Motsoenyane.
The 3rd annual conference is set to take place later this month at the Sandton Convention centre bringing together leading mine experts to tackle the challenges in the industry, promote responsible practices and encourage innovation and investments.
Meanwhile speaking at the G20 Critical Minerals Stakeholder Engagement in Johannesburg last week, Mineral and Petroleum Resources Minister Gwede Mantashe called for intention in realizing that Africa has the potential to play an important role meeting the global demand for critical minerals on the just energy transition:

Gauteng Eskom Expo co-ordinator Raven Motsewabangwe says this year’s regional science fair was the largest event in the region’s history, with more than 72 schools participating at the school and district levels, and over 50 advancing to the regional stage.
Last month the Expo for Young Scientists regional competition saw 176 learners, from Grade-4 to TVET colleges, showcase their creative projects tackling real-world challenges at the University of Johannesburg, Soweto Campus.
The competition followed a year of preparation, with learners progressing through various stages, including workshops and district expos.
Motsewabangwe says witnessing learners progress from having no knowledge of the Eskom Expo to successfully completing research projects is a truly rewarding experience.

South Africa’s Vidhu Ishiqa has been named Mrs Earth International 2025.
The 18th edition of Earth Pageant International was held in Orlando Florida celebrating women who champion empowerment environment awareness and sustainability.
