Empowerment meets entertainment at the 2025 Tribute to Women Concert

This year's Tribute To Women concert will take place at Mark's Park in Emmarentia, in Johannesburg and promises a vibrant and purposeful celebration.
Broadcaster, global health advocate and social entrepreneur Dr. Criselda Kananda who has been recently appointed as the Ambassador of the Tribute To Women concert and the Chairperson of the Malibongwe Arts Festival Foundation, shared plans to expand the project's impact blending cultural celebration and long-term empowerment for women, particularly in the creative sector.
Kananda says she intends to extend the initiative to remote areas, in order to discover and empower more women.

UJ’s Theatre 101 ignites creativity and collaboration

The University of Johannesburg's Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture came alive with colour, creativity and collaboration as over 300 second-year students took part in the Institution's Theatre 101 initiative, a unique, intergrated learning experience aimed at reimagining the future of theatre.
Over two weeks, students from theatre design, marketing, fashion and fine art were grouped into 25 dynamic teams and tasked with bringing their artistic visions to life, with the challenge to explore themes from various design lenses including set and prop design as well as costume and jewellery construction.
The presentations were evaluated by a panel of mentors and industry professionals who commended the students for their innovative thinking and the richness of their visual storytelling.
