Today marks the start of National Science Week 2025 held under theme "Science, technology and innovation are for everyone".
The week focuses on activities such as research dialogue sessions, science cafés and exhibitions across South Africa, with the aim to close the gap between society and science.
It is part of efforts to give South Africans knowledge about science, make them aware of scientific and technological developments, and equip them to form their own opinions about science matters.
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Blade Nzimande is urging learners not to shy away from Scoence, Technology, engineering and Maths subjects:

Gogo's To Launch A Community-Driven Initiative

Ride-hailing platform, inDrive has partnered with goGOGOgo to launch a community-driven initiative.
The project focuses on empowering older women, known as gogos, from Alexandra and surrounding areas with digital and mobility literacy skills.
Last week the initiative held a hands-on training session at Safe-Hub Alexandra, teaching gogos how to use smartphones and navigate the inDrive app.
This training is crucial, as many gogos are raising grandchildren on limited incomes and need tools for independence and safety.
Ashif Black, inDrive's Country Representative, says empowering gogos with digital skills helps their safety and independence.
