Eskom Reports 161 Days Without Load-Shedding
Story 2
South Africans have now gone 161 days without load-shedding. The utility reports 161 consecutive days without load-shedding.
It attributes the reliability to technical improvements under the generation recovery plan, which have also reduced unplanned outages and increased the energy availability factor to 64.28% compared to last year.
Eskom adds that diesel-powered turbines are being used less, reflecting a shift to more cost-effective and sustainable generation.
The utility plans to return 1 715 megawatts of capacity next week and forecasts no load-shedding until March 2026.

Artificial Reef Brings Life to Rampion Offshore Wind Farm
Story 3
A pioneering artificial reef has been installed at the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm off the Sussex coast, creating new habitats for marine life.
Around the base of a single turbine, 75,000 low-carbon concrete “reef cubes” have been placed to encourage mussels, oysters, anemones, fish, and other species to settle, boosting local biodiversity.
The cubes also protect the turbine from erosion, offering a nature-friendly alternative to traditional rock scour pads.
Made locally from recycled materials, the project supports jobs while demonstrating sustainable engineering in offshore wind energy.
Experts will monitor the reef over five years to study its environmental impact, making it a model for combining renewable energy with conservation.
