Stellenbosch University Launches Major Liberation History Archive
Story 2
Stellenbosch University has launched the Unity Movement Collection, an archive preserving more than 80 years of liberation history linked to the Non European Unity Movement.
The collection includes rare documents, photographs, correspondence and policy records that trace the movement’s role in shaping anti apartheid thought and its alliances with organisations such as the Teachers’ League of South Africa.
The university says the archive is part of efforts to broaden access to South Africa’s political history, with plans to eventually digitise the collection for wider public access.
