Rand Water enters 3rd day of maintenance programme

Rand Water has entered the 3rd day of its key infrastructure maintenance programme that aims to ensure consistent, stable and efficient supply.

The water utility is undergoing extensive infrastructure work that will disrupt water supplies across Johannesburg and surrounding areas for up to 21 days.

Rand Water’s planned tie-in of the B16 pipeline from Zuikerbosch Station 5, will take pumping at the Mapleton pumping station offline for 107 hours, affecting the cities of Ekurhuleni and Tshwane.

The water utility says the maintenance is designed to improve network reliability and increase operational capacity across the Gauteng region.

Western Cape launches Computerized Learner’s License Testing system

The Western Cape Government marked a significant milestone in its commitment to safer roads and smarter service delivery with the official launch of the Computerised Learner’s Licence Testing system.

The event took place at the Beaufort West Driving License Testing Centre on Monday and showcased a live demonstration of a state-of-the-art digital testing system, that replaces the traditional manual booklet method.

Western Cape Mobility MEC Isaac Sileku says a driver’s license is a critical requirement for many jobs and says the process to getting a driver's license must be made as easy as possible for all residents.

SA's Coding and Robotics educator honoured with a 025 EDGE in Tech Athena Award

South African Coding and Robotics educator Nadine Smith, has been honoured with a
025 EDGE in Tech Athena Award, for Early Career Leadership.

The award was presented by the Center for Information Technology Research and the Banatao Institute at the University of California.

The South African teacher was the only recipient from Africa and one of just four global recipients of the award.

Smith's accolade celebrates individuals who are leading the charge in creating technology ecosystems that are more diverse, equitable and impactful.
