Children from Fourways Gardens Estate and Diepsloot gathered for the estate’s first EcoKids event of the year, taking part in environmental education, tree planting and hands-on activities.
The initiative aims to teach children about the importance of caring for the environment and appreciating local natural resources.
Learners planted fruit trees, including gooseberries, to expand a community orchard accessible to all, while learning how locally grown produce benefits the environment.
Partnerships with organisations like the Green Hope Foundation allowed children from outside the estate to participate, helping inspire the next generation of environmentalists

Government has handed over part of a R1.4 billion water and sanitation project to residents of Thembalethu in George, Western Cape, to improve infrastructure in the water-scarce area. With frequent interruptions, new reservoirs will store water and help ensure supply during emergencies.
The project forms part of broader upgrades to treatment and distribution systems, including improved pipelines and added storage capacity.
