The 6th South Africa Investment Conference is underway in Sandton, Johannesburg, with government aiming to raise R2 trillion by 2028.
The event returns after a two-year hiatus, following the success of the first five-year drive that secured R1.5 trillion in pledges, exceeding targets by 26 percent.
More than 1,000 delegates from 21 countries are expected, with 65 new investment pledges anticipated to support economic growth.
Officials say the conference remains a key platform for attracting critical investment despite uncertainty caused by the war in the Middle East, which could affect travel for some participants.

Retired neurosurgeon Dr André Hattingh is making a difference in the Little Karoo with his latest fundraising initiative, a 500 kilometre donkey cart journey supporting children who need specialist medical care.
Through Pediatric Care Africa, children in De Rust, Oudtshoorn and nearby rural communities are gaining access to surgeries, wheelchairs and treatment they might otherwise miss.
The donkey cart trip is the newest way Hattingh raises funds, adding to previous efforts such as motorbike rides, tractor trips and other community initiatives.
This journey focuses on providing specialised wheelchairs for children with severe disabilities and highlighting the challenges faced by families in remote areas.

Sandton City’s Chocolate Café is back this Easter with a Sweet Edition, offering families a chance to indulge in all things chocolate from 26 March to 6 April. Located in the mall’s Centre Court, the pop-up features beloved brands including Lindt, Cadbury, Ferrero Rocher, Nestlé and more.
