SA schools and ECDs can apply for Santa Shoebox support in 2026

The Santa Shoebox Project is inviting South African schools and Early Childhood Development centres to apply to receive support in 2026.
Applications open on 7-April and close on 23 April, with selection confirmed by mid-June.
Selected facilities will receive personalised shoeboxes containing food, clothing, stationery and toys, and may also get refurbished ECD spaces, reading corners, and teacher training.
The initiative focuses on vulnerable children in both urban and rural areas, helping them access necessities and support for early education.

20 Cape Town pupils get new glasses to help them learn
Story 2
Twenty learners at Prestwich Street Primary School in Cape Town can now focus on lessons after receiving new glasses through the Alive Foundation’s Clear Vision for Learning Project.
Out of 31 children who got eye screenings, 27 were found to need spectacles and one was referred for further care.
20 pupils have already been fitted with glasses.
The project is helping students see the board, read their books, and take full part in class, boosting their chances to succeed at school.

64 golfers raise funds for children at Cape Town charity golf day
Story 3
64-golfers came together at Cape Town’s Metropolitan Golf Club on 30 March for Ladles of Love’s 4th annual Charity Golf Day.
By playing golf, buying raffle tickets and bidding in auctions, participants raised funds to provide daily meals for 30 preschool children through the Nourish Our Children programme.
This gives young children access to nutritious food, supporting their growth and giving them a stronger start in life.

South Africa faces Panama in friendly tonight at DHL Stadium

South Africa will play Panama in an international friendly match this evening at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
Kick-off is at 7:30pm, and the game will be broadcast live on SABC.
The two sides drew 1–1 in Durban on Friday.
The South African Football Association says Bafana Bafana’s friendly against Panama will provide a competitive, physical, and tactical challenge similar to what they will face in World Cup Group A with Mexico, South Korea, and the UEFA Playoff D winner.
