10 Centres Receive Literacy Boosts

Thousands of young children now have better access to books and reading spaces after 10 Early Childhood Development centres across South Africa were upgraded through the Mandela Month Literacy Legacy Initiative.
The project provided 1 500 books, educational toys, take-home reading packs and dedicated reading corners to support early literacy.
The initiative will continue beyond Mandela Month, with assessments planned to identify infrastructure improvements at the centres and create safer, better learning environments.

Schools Gain Access To Digital Skills

Learners at underserved schools in South Africa will gain access to coding, robotics, AI and digital literacy training through a mobile technology programme launching in early 2027.
Grade 8 and 9 learners will receive training, while teachers and young facilitators will build skills to continue digital education in their communities.
Selected participants will also gain paid work experience and opportunities to compete in robotics events.

Women Take To Waves In Muizenberg

The Roxy Davis Foundation will host Girls & Women of the Waves at Muizenberg Beach in Cape Town on 9 August 2026 to mark National Women's Day.
Around 80 to 100 women and girls, including participants with disabilities and youth at risk, will take part in surf therapy, beginner lessons and the LaMuse Classic competition.
The foundation will provide transport, equipment and distribute 200 feminine hygiene packs to help remove barriers to participation.
More than 100 volunteers, coaches and officials will support the event, with community donations helping to assemble the hygiene packs.
