Scatterlings Festival celebrates South African music and culture

South Africans will gather at Huddle Park on Saturday for the debut Scatterlings Music Festival, a celebration of the legacy of the late Johnny Clegg.
Curated by Jesse Clegg and Msaki, the event brings together top artists including Zakes Bantwini, Sjava, Sun El Musician and Simmy for a one night celebration of local music, culture and heritage.
The festival also showcases emerging talent while bringing generations of musicians together on one stage.

Host cities unveiled for 2027 Cricket World Cup

The host cities and official tournament brand for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 have been unveiled in Johannesburg as South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia prepare to welcome the world's biggest One Day International cricket tournament in October and November next year.
The tournament will return to African soil for the first time in 24 years and will feature matches across 12 venues, including eight in South Africa. It will also introduce an expanded 14 team format, bringing even more world class cricket to fans across the region.

Tygerberg Hospital receives lifesaving neonatal ventilators

Tygerberg Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has received two advanced neonatal ventilators from the Tygerberg Hospital Children's Trust to help care for premature and critically ill babies.
The specialised equipment provides vital breathing support for newborns whose lungs are not yet fully developed, giving them a better chance of recovery during their first days of life.
The donation forms part of the Trust's ongoing efforts to improve paediatric healthcare as it celebrates 25 years of supporting children and families.

Global hunger drops to lowest level since the pandemic

Global hunger has fallen below eight percent for the first time since the COVID 19 pandemic, according to the latest United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization report.
The biggest improvements have been recorded across Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America, with the global hunger rate continuing to decline for a third consecutive year.
The United Nations says hunger levels are expected to fall even further by the end of the decade if current progress continues
