The Feed the Nation Initiative, a project by Pick 'n Pay has distributed over 45.1 million meals since its launch in 2020.
This campaign was initially launched as an emergency relief fund in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, but has continued to provide food and essential items to vulnerable communities.
Speaking on the Social Impact Show yesterday Pick 'n Pay Non Executive Director Suzanne Ackerman said the 'Feed the Nation' initiative combines food security with dignity restoration:

SAA Launches Direct Cape Town-Mauritius Service

South African Airways will start direct flights from Cape Town to Mauritius in December.
The flight will operate three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with two convenient departure times.
A temporary adjustment will be made between mid-January and mid-March 2026, when the service will operate twice weekly, in line with seasonal demand.
In a statement the company says this new route will help boost tourism in South Africa and Mauritius.

LEGO Celebrates Ndebele Art and Culture

South African designer Lindsay Swartbooi has created a LEGO set inspired by Ndebele heritage, titled "Explore Africa! Ndebele Tribe Hut Set".
It's a tribute to the vibrant Ndebele culture, specifically the women's practice of painting geometric patterns on their homes.
To become an official LEGO set, it needs 10,000 votes on the LEGO Ideas platform.
The build features curved architecture, a swing-open thatch-textured roof, and customizable murals.
