The South African Meter Taxi and E-Hailing Association and Gauteng E-Hailing Services announced the partnership at a media briefing.
Their joint safety plan includes panic buttons linked to rapid response teams, centralised incident reporting, operator vetting, vehicle tracking, and roadside assistance.
The partnership aims to regulate and formalise the industry, protecting both drivers and passengers from criminal activities.
Operators are urged to apply for permits to comply with the National Land Transport Act, ensuring accountability and safer services.
