923 Young Graduates celebrate the completion of comprehensive skilling programmes

923 young graduates gathered at the Brixton Multi-purpose Centre in Johannesburg, to celebrate the completion of their skilling programmes in Project Management, End User Computing, Business Analysis, Personal Hygiene, and other key areas.

The event highlighted the province's commitment to youth development through skills training and education.

Out of the 923 graduates, 789 came through the Gauteng Department of Health's Expanded Public Works Programme, 34 were from the Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, and 100 came from the City of Johannesburg.

The MEC for Health and Wellness Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, emphasized the importance of the initiative to equip young people with job-ready skills.

Tshwane celebrates water infrastructure upgrade

The City of Tshwane has expressed its gratitude to the Rand Water Foundation for the construction of four life-changing boreholes in Langkloof, Sokhulumi, Sizanani and Rethabiseng.

The transformative partnership aims to improve access to clean water, promote sustainable water use and strengthen the city’s water infrastructure.

Tshwane deputy mayor, Eugene Modise says the partnership with the Rand Water Foundation is transforming commitment into meaningful impact.

WeThinkCode receives R36 Million grant to expand AI training in SA and Kenya

The South African tech academy WeThinkCode, has received a R36 million grant from Google.org to expand its AI training programs across South Africa and Kenya.

The funding will support the training of 12,000 learners, focusing on low-income and peri-urban communities.

The grant will enable the academy to deliver a free, extracurricular AI course of 40 to 80 hours duration, designed for two key groups where 6,000 aspiring software engineers will gain hands-on experience with AI-powered programming tools, while another 6,000 students and junior professionals in the law, education and healthcare fields, will be trained to apply AI in everyday administrative tasks.

The initiative will run through 2026, with progress tracked via employer showcases and outcome evaluations.
