Riversands Resident calls for support to keep township youth active through sport
Story 1
A Riversands resident and former professional boxer, Mbulelo Transvaal, is appealing for donations to support a new community initiative aimed at keeping township children active, engaged and away from illegal activities through sports and play.
Transvaal says the high concentration of children living in small spaces highlights an urgent need for structured, fun and educational activities that promote physical health, discipline and positive social interaction.
Despite limited resources, the former professional boxer, accredited personal fitness trainer and boxing coach has already begun running informal fitness sessions using basic equipment such as skipping ropes.
He is now appealing for donations of unused or pre-loved children’s recreational items, including toys and sports equipment such as skateboards, old cricket gear and tennis rackets.
Members of the public who wish to support the initiative can email poisonboxingfitness@gmail.com.
