More than 100 primary school learners in Alexandra took part in this year’s Read Alex Spelling Bee, with the latest session held on Saturday.
The initiative encourages children in a community where reading for enjoyment outside the classroom is not always common to develop a stronger interest in books and language.
Now in its fourth year, the programme also runs reading sessions to help learners build their vocabulary, confidence and communication skills
