Student Runs 21 Half-Marathons For Birthday
Story 1
University of Pretoria medical student Asekho Mbokodo has completed 21 races of 21-point-one kilometres each to mark her 21st birthday.
The third-year student launched the challenge earlier this year to raise money for stethoscopes for medical students who could not afford them.
Over seven months, she raised 26-thousand-361 rand, which will fund stethoscopes for third-year students beginning clinical training.
Mbokodo says the initiative was inspired by seeing fellow students struggle to afford the equipment they need in hospital wards.
