7,332 Jobs Created in Johannesburg

Johannesburg’s inner-city regeneration programmes have created jobs and income for 7,332 people and paid out R147 million in wages.
The Johannesburg Inner City Partnership says more than 1,600 people have also received training, while hundreds of small businesses and public spaces have benefited.
The programmes give residents paid work to clean public spaces, maintain infrastructure and improve neighbourhoods while developing new skills.
The organisation is marking its 30th anniversary by highlighting the residents helping to transform Johannesburg’s inner city.

The Durban FilmMart Institute is now preparing for this year’s programme, which runs from 9 to 12 October in Durban.
It will cover film financing, AI, animation, advocacy and international partnerships.
The programme brings filmmakers and industry professionals together to develop projects and discuss challenges facing the African film industry.

Malajika Wins WBC World Boxing Title

Joburg South boxer Ricardo Malajika has won the WBC super flyweight world title after beating Japan’s Tomoya Tsoobuuu-i Tsuboi in Tokyo on Sunday.
Malajika won by split decision after recovering from a cut in the opening round and finishing strongly over 12 rounds.
Two judges scored the fight in his favour, while the third gave it to Tsuboi.
The victory makes Malajika only the sixth South African boxer to win a WBC world title.
