Science and Innovation take centre stage at UJ STEM initiative

The University of Johannesburg’s Faculties of Science and Engineering hosted a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics outreach event, to showcase opportunities in science and innovation.

100 learners and 16 teachers from underserved communities visited UJ’s APK Campus, where they were introduced to academic and career prospects in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The event was made possible through partnerships with the Chayil Foundation and the UJ Habitable Planet Schools Programme, with sponsorships from the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority.

Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, says the award is a testament to the hard work of South Africa’s health professionals, researchers, civil society and communities.
