Five Cardinals players named to SA’s first U15 girls baseball team

Five talented young athletes from Boksburg Cardinals Baseball Club are set to make history after earning selection to South Africa’s first Under-15 Women’s National Baseball Team.
The young players will travel to the United States in July to compete in the prestigious Baseball for All tournament.
The tournament is recognised as the world’s largest baseball event dedicated exclusively to girls and young women.
The Cardinals players – Cailyn Smit, Peyton Watkins, Madison Botha, Shayla-Mae de Jager and Amberleigh de Kock have earned their places through outstanding performances at club, provincial and national level.

The Reach For A Dream national fundraising Slipper Day campaign has helped raise funds to fulfil the dreams of children living with life-threatening illnesses.
The nationwide initiative united schools, corporate teams and communities across South Africa in a show of support and solidarity.
This year’s campaign placed dreamers at the centre of the initiative, celebrating their courage, resilience and hope while encouraging South Africans to wear their slippers on Friday the 29th of May, in support of making more dreams come true.

A new documentary exploring the life and legacy of acclaimed theatre-maker, musician and writer, Dr Mbongeni Ngema, is set to premiere at The Market Theatre today.
The documentary reflects on Ngema’s contribution to the arts as an internationally recognised playwright, composer, choreographer and actor.
Ngema's acclaimed body of work includes Woza Albert, the Tony-nominated Asinamali, the award-winning Sarafina, and the hit song Stimela saseZola
among others.
The documentary has earned recognition, winning Best Documentary Feature Film at the Simon Mabhunu Sabela Film and Television Awards and the Umlazi International Film Festival.
