Inclusive Bowls Event Marks World Down Syndrome Day in Gauteng

Children and adults with Down syndrome took to the greens at Morningside Country Club last week for a special World Down Syndrome Day celebration.
Hosted by My Bowls Academy in partnership with the Down Syndrome Association Gauteng, the event gave participants a safe, fun space to try lawn bowls and connect with their community.

NSRI and Scouts launch youth water safety and skills programme

The National Sea Rescue Institute and SCOUTS South Africa Western Cape have launched a youth development programme to improve water safety and open career pathways for young people.
The initiative, running until December, teaches survival swimming, water safety, and life skills while creating routes into volunteering and lifeguarding roles.
Started at the Hawequas Scout Adventure Centre in Wellington, the programme has already helped participants gain confidence in the water, with the next phase seeing 192 volunteers deliver community training and work toward instructor and lifeguard qualifications.
