Wits student athletes will soon have access to better training, rehabilitation and sports science support with the opening of a new R300 million sports complex in Johannesburg.
The sports complex brings coaching, healthcare, rehabilitation and research together in one facility to help students perform at their best.
The university says the centre will also support disability sport, expand sports bursaries and serve schools and sporting organisations.
The complex is expected to open to athletes and the public in September.

Luxury travel company Steadfast Africa has raised more than R2 million to support the Kolisi Foundation and the Good Work Foundation.
More than 300 guests attended a fundraising event in London to back community development projects in South Africa.
The funding will help expand programmes focused on education, digital inclusion, food security and youth development.
Organisers expect the total to grow as the online auction and raffle continue until 8 July.

CHOC receives minibus for young patients

The CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa in the Western Cape has strengthened its support for young cancer patients with the donation of a new 14-seater minibus from the South African Muslim Charitable Trust.
The vehicle will provide safe and reliable transport for children travelling to and from hospital for treatment.
CHOC says transport costs and long travel distances have prevented some families from attending appointments.
The new minibus will help more children stay on track with their treatment while easing the burden on their families.
