Joburg Steps Up Roads Maintenance

The City of Johannesburg has unveiled a major infrastructure plan aimed at combating deteriorating road conditions and the growing frustration over potholes, particularly in high-traffic zones such as Sandton.With a budget allocation of 149.9 million rand for the 2025/26 financial year, the Johannesburg Roads Agency will focus on resurfacing major arterial routes, including sections of the M1 North and South, the Sandton Highway, and other primary roads linking the city's business hub to surrounding areas. The initiative will cover both proactive and reactive road maintenance, full-scale rehabilitation, and the reinstatement of roads impacted by utility excavations — particularly those linked to Johannesburg Water infrastructure repairs.

Durban owned eatery, Mushroom Lounge has scooped the prestigious Best Durban Restaurant Award. This took place at the 4th annual Durban Tourism Business Awards event in Durban recently. The eatery, owned by Sibongiseni Mageza Mbambo, was announced as overall winner in the restaurants category. Mbambo said he was shocked when he was called on stage as he did not expect to win any award with the restaurant only established a year ago. He said he was also thankful for the support of the eThekwini Municipality and Durban Tourism as well the blessings he received from King Misu zulu kaZwelithini who visited the restaurant last year. The eatery was established in April last year and was recently invited to showcase African cuisine in New York.
