Community members in Boksburg rolled up their sleeves to support the South African National Blood Service's Jail and Bail campaign at the Parkmeadow Donor Centre, helping boost blood supplies during the busy winter season.

The campaign exceeded its target of collecting 50 units of blood, helping strengthen blood stocks at a time when donations are usually lower.

Mandela Month literacy initiative transforms ECD centres across South Africa

Thousands of young children now have better access to books and reading spaces after 10 Early Childhood Development centres across all nine provinces were upgraded through the Mandela Month Literacy Legacy Initiative.
The project donated 1 500 books, educational toys and take home reading packs, while creating dedicated reading corners to encourage a love of books from an early age.
The initiative will also continue beyond Mandela Month, with plans to assess each centre's infrastructure needs and provide further support to improve learning environments.
