The project will also increase participation for girls and children with disabilities through inclusive play programmes.

Ruimsig Run Raises School Shoe Support

A community fundraising walk and run in Ruimsig has raised support for children in need of school shoes.
The event, held earlier this month, brought together families, runners and organisations including My Walk Made with Soul, Love Cities and Run/Walk for Life.
Participants sponsored shoes, while the charity recycles hospital drip bags to produce waterproof school shoes for learners.
The initiative helps more children attend school with the footwear they need.

Motherland Skate Event Rolls Into Randburg

The Skate School Academy will host The Motherland women’s skateboarding competition at Ferndale Recreation Centre in Randburg on August 9.
The event will bring together more than 35 female skaters from across South Africa, including national champion Isobel Stewart.
Competitors will take part in beginner, under-16 and open categories, with prizes for winners.
The competition works to grow women’s participation in skateboarding through training and community support.
