Organisers have assured the public that the Soweto Marathon will take place as planned this November in Nasrec, Johannesburg.
Fears arose after internal financial disputes led to the dissolution of the Soweto Marathon Trust .
However, race preparations continue, with a planned launch set for mid-August under a new non-profit structure to manage sponsorship funds.
Officials and athletics clubs involved say last year’s race went ahead without trust involvement, and they are confident this year’s event will proceed smoothly.

A Vietnam War veteran has turned trauma into joy through a hand-carved carousel now enjoyed by thousands in Nederland, Colorado.
Former Marine corporal Scott Harrison was stationed at Con Thien in 1968 during the Vietnam War.
Amid the chaos, he would listen to a music box his sister had given him and picture a peaceful carousel in a mountain meadow as his mental escape from war.
Years later, that vision helped him cope with post-traumatic stress. He restored a broken carousel and carved new animals by hand, creating a space of joy and calm for others.
Since opening in 2010, the Carousel of Happiness has welcomed over a million riders.

Pretoria North residents joined forces with local police and Ward Councillor Quentin Meyer to clean up the Pretoria North police station.
The community-led effort included painting, trimming trees, and clearing litter to restore pride and improve the station's appearance.
Meyer said it was about rebuilding trust in law enforcement, while station commander Colonel Nonzwakazi Julla called it an example of policing with the community, not just for it.
The clean-up also created space for informal chats between residents and officers.
On the same day, Pretoria North SAPS participated in a mental health awareness campaign at Adelaide Tambo Clinic, promoting understanding and respectful treatment of mental health issues.
