China–SA partnership produces first cohort of skilled graduates

Thirty-six South African graduates were officially welcomed home on monday during a ceremony led by Higher Education and Training Deputy Minister Nomusa Dube-Ncube at the Chinese Embassy in Pretoria.

The graduates recently completed a specialised training programme at the Beijing Polytechnic College in China and form part of the first group of graduates that have been produced through a partnership between the Chinese institution and nine South African Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges, aimed at strengthening technical skills development.

Dube-Ncube has emphasised the importance of aligning international learning experiences with long-term national priorities.

Two young Scientists to represent SA at Taiwan Science Fair

2 winners from the Eskom Expo for young Scientists will represent South Africa at the Taiwan international Science fair with pioneering scientific research that reflects the innovation, scientific curiosity and global competitiveness of the country’s young scientists.

The learners will showcase pioneering research in Mathematics and Biomedical Science at the international event which will run from the 31st of January to the 7th of February.

The Fair brings together school learners from around the world and provides a global platform for young Scientists to share innovative ideas and collaborate across borders.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Eskom Development Foundation Mologadi Motshele, says the participation of the two young South African learners at the prestigious event, reflects the international standard, innovation and Scientific curiosity demonstrated by the country’s young Scientists.

Kruger National Park partially open following recent downpours

The Kruger National Park remains operational despite recent heavy rainfall, which has forced the temporary closure of several key gates and camps.

SANParks spokesperson JP Louw, says visitor quotas have been introduced to manage traffic flow, ensure safety and protect the park’s road network.

Visitors are reminded that the quota system is in place to prevent congestion on limited road networks. Advance booking is recommended and motorists are urged to drive cautiously and respect all road closures.

Travellers are advised to plan routes carefully and check the status of their destinations before departure.
