The City of Johannesburg has issued a firm warning ahead of the festive season tha street bashes and unregulated outdoor parties will not be allowed anywhere in the metro. Authorities say the blanket ban is in place for the entire holiday period. Law enforcement teams have been instructed to close down any non-compliant events immediately. According to the city’s MMC for Safety and Security Mcini Tshwakoh, the clampdown is aimed at curbing public disorder, noise disruptions, crime, and safety risks. Officials added that the city wants residents to enjoy the festive season responsibly, but within the confines of the law.

Nomalanga “The Flame” Shozi will join Robot Boii as host of the 16th annual Last Dance Music Festival on New Year’s Eve. Shozi, who recently hosted the Miss South Africa 2025 grand finale, will front the popular event at Pietermaritzburg’s Royal Showgrounds.The festival will be broadcast live on SABC 1 from 9pm and promises electrifying performances and cultural celebration. The star-studded line-up includes DJ Maphorisa, Big Zulu, Dlala Thukzin, Mafikizolo, Professor, and several other top local artists.

Actor Idris Elba and stars of England’s Women’s Euro 2025 football team were among those named in the New Year Honours. Ice dancing legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, plus players from England’s Women’s Rugby World Cup-winning side, were also recognised.
