Bafana Bafana have continued their preparations ahead of their final Group B match against neighbours Zimbabwe.South Africa require a win or at least a draw against the Brave Warriors in order to book their place in the next round of the competition.The match will be played this evening at the Marrakech Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm. Both teams wraped up preparations with their final training sessions held last night. Bafana Bafana Coach, Hugo Broos had this to say:

Big Changes at Sandton Racquet Club

Over the past two years, Sandton Racquet Club has seen some exciting upgrades.
The highlight for 2025 is the completion of the club’s four padel courts, which are now open and ready for both members and visitors to enjoy. Club manager Drago Elez thanked the Johannesburg Property Company for approving the renovation. In 2026, the four tennis courts are set to be renovated and redesigned with multi-sport markings to support a variety of activities, including soccer and cricket academies, basketball, netball, martial arts, yoga, Pilates, and dance programmes.

Linden Resident Spruces Up Street

While many were relaxing over the festive season, Linden resident Nicky Liebenberg was busy giving her neighbourhood a makeover. A Linden local for 17 years, Liebenberg cleaned a neglected stretch of 3rd Avenue between 6th and 7th streets. Liebenberg says It’s people who make a community, noting that residents often have to step in where municipalities fall short. She adds that strong communities also help lower crime, as people watch out for each other.

Actor Idris Elba and stars of England’s Women’s Euro 2025 football team were among those named in the New Year Honours. Ice dancing legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, plus players from England’s Women’s Rugby World Cup-winning side, were also recognised.
Elba, famous for *The Wire* and *Luther*, was knighted for his work helping young people, while Torvill and Dean received the same honour for ice skating. More than 1,150 people made the list, with awards handed out by King Charles and other royals over the year.
