Sandton Fun Factory Wins US Financial Literacy Award

Sandton Fun Factory has won the Excellence in Financial Literacy Education Award from the Institute for Financial Literacy in the United States.
The programme, launched in 2023, trains early childhood development teachers to teach children aged three to six how to earn, save and budget.
In partnership with Discovery Bank, it has expanded to 600 centres across South Africa, reaching about 20,000 children.
The organisation is now training TVET students and plans to roll out the programme to more colleges and into Namibia later this year.

SA wins 4x100m Relays at Simbine Classic

South Africa won the 4×100-metre men’s and women’s relay at the inaugural Simbine Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting held in Tshwane.
Cameroonian Emmanuel Eseme crossed the finish line in 10.03-seconds to win the men’s 100-metres.
Akani Simbine pulled up injured midway through the race and finished last.
South Africa’s Prudence Sekgodiso won the women’s 1,500-metres while Tshepo Tshite took the men’s 3,000-metres.
Kenya’s Noah Kibet won the men’s 800-metres.

Karoo to Coast Launches Guide Dog Fundraising Campaign

The Lions Karoo to Coast MTB, Gravel and E-Bike Challenge has launched a campaign with the South African Guide-Dogs Association to fund the training of a guide dog.
The event, scheduled for 27 September 2026, will donate R100,000 if it reaches 2,100 entries.
The initiative forms part of the race’s 25th edition and aims to support people with visual impairment by funding specialist guide dog training.
Entries are open, with organisers calling on riders to increase participation to meet the funding target.
