The Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba hosted a two day programme in Pretoria that brought together young farmers and agripreneurs to focus on growing opportunities in agriculture.
The gathering explored key challenges in the sector such as land access, funding and market integration while offering training, mentorship and networking sessions.
Speakers emphasised the need for stronger collaboration to support emerging farmers, especially women, in building sustainable agricultural businesses.
The Momentum Group Foundation’s Women in Farming programme was also showcased as part of wider efforts to strengthen support for young female farmers.

The National Sea Rescue Institute’s Survival Swimming programme has been expanded at Rhodes University in Makhanda, offering students the chance to gain essential water safety skills.
Many participants, who previously had little or no access to swimming lessons, are now learning to float, breathe calmly and move safely in water through structured and supportive training sessions.
The programme also aims to reduce fear of water in communities by equipping adults with skills they can pass on to children. Interest continues to grow, with hundreds of students already on the waiting list.

Astro Kids and Adult Organisation partnered with Shoprite to provide soup and bread to residents in the Klipspruit Chicken Farm community in Soweto.
The initiative aimed to support families facing unemployment and food insecurity, ensuring that children and households receive at least one warm meal.
Organisers say the drive is part of ongoing efforts to address basic needs and reduce social challenges in vulnerable communities.
Community members welcomed the support, saying it helps ease daily struggles and brings comfort during difficult times
