Young Designers Turn Waste into Runway Fashion in Johannesburg
Story 1
Young designers turned waste materials into wearable outfits and showcased them on the runway at Fourways Crossing in Johannesburg on April 15, 2026.
The show, hosted by Ace Models Johannesburg North, required participants to create garments from items such as newspapers and other discarded materials.
The initiative forms part of a year-long programme aimed at building modelling and design skills among young people.
Organisers say the event promotes recycling by encouraging reuse of waste instead of disposal.
