Young South Africans aged 10 to 18 have until 11 September to enter the Pieces for Peace Art Competition, run by environmental non-profit Save a Fishie and the International Peace Youth Group.
Entrants must create a poster or sculpture about peace using only recycled materials, either individually or in teams of up to five.
The top three entries in each age group will be put to a public vote, with winners announced on 2 October.

Nearly 500 South African primary school mathematics teachers are receiving extra training to improve their problem-solving skills.
The training is funded by the Government Employees Pension Fund and delivered by the South African Mathematics Foundation through an online course.
The 495 teachers are taking part in the programme, which started on 20 August and runs until 15 October.
They will learn new ways to help learners solve challenging maths problems and prepare for mathematics competitions.

Time Out South Africa has launched a new digital guide for Durban, covering food, culture, events, neighbourhoods and local attractions.
The platform will also feature local writers, creatives and community voices, giving residents and visitors information on what to see and do in Durban and across KwaZulu-Natal.
Time Out Durban follows the launch of guides for Cape Town and Johannesburg last year.
Durban was recently ranked among the world’s best places to travel to in 2026 in a global Time Out survey.
