University of Johannesburg sprinter Leendert Koekemoer has delivered a major performance at the Grand Prix in Brescia, Italy, winning the men's Under 20 400m in a new South African record time of 44.52 seconds.
He broke the previous record of 45.15 seconds, which had stood for 31 years, by more than six tenths of a second and also recorded a new personal best.

Sinakekele Staff Celebrate Safeguarding Achievement

Staff members at Sinakekele Children in Verulam have celebrated completing a safeguarding course with a graduation ceremony funded by members of the community.
The team completed the course earlier this year after enrolling in the programme late last year.
Sinakekele initially did not have enough funding to hold a graduation, but individuals and organisations stepped in to cover the costs of the ceremony.
The celebration recognised the staff’s commitment to protecting and caring for vulnerable children.
