The initiative aims to improve air quality, support bio-diversity, and create a healthier urban environment.
Joburg is considered the world's largest human-made forest with 3.2 million trees, but faces challenges from illegal tree cutting and an ageing tree canopy.
Meanwhile, residents are encouraged to report emergency fallen trees or branches to the City's call center.

The meeting aimed to develop a collaborative security strategy to combat house break-ins, hijackings, and other violent crimes plaguing the community.

The Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology has launched the Mpumalanga AI Student Hackathon 2025 activation.
The initiative is now in its third year and has become a key platform for ICT students to explore real-world AI applications.
This year’s hackathon will see teams of ten competing during 3 days of intensive learning, innovation and collaboration in October.
TUT says the hackathon equips students with hands-on technical skills, while connecting them to industry mentors.
