The Johannesburg Development Agency is building farming infrastructure at 5 sites to fight food insecurity, support local farmers, and create jobs.
This initiative is part of the Urban Agriculture Food Resilience Infrastructure Project, aimed at tackling poverty and addressing the lack of farming infrastructure.
The project will prioritize local labour, during construction to ensure maximum community benefit.

The metro is encouraging residents to participate in tree planting during Arbor Month this September, by planting indigenous and fruit trees in public open spaces to combat climate change.
Residents can get involved by planting trees at home or by collecting trees from the municipality to plant in public areas.
