Cricket fields in underserved communities across Gauteng to get an upgrade

One of South Africa's largest Facilities Management providers, Servest, has partnered with the Gauteng Cricket Board "Lions Cricket" to support grassroots and underprivileged cricket talent.
As part of the partnership, Servest's Landscaping and Turf division will maintain and upkeep 21 cricket fields in underserved communities across Gauteng for the next 3-years.
These fields, home to 17 cricket clubs, will provide young players with access to well-maintained, world-class playing surfaces, inspiring and nurturing young talent.
Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright has expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting that high-quality playing surfaces would significantly impact performance and participation.

New R28 Million digital hub launched in Soweto

A state-of-the-art digital hub has been launched at the South West Gauteng College in Soweto, with the goal of preparing students for careers in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The R28 million project, will train 800 learners over the next 2-years in fields such as cybersecurity, coding, and AI.
The initiative also aims to upskill 60 lecturers, enabling them to deliver courses both online and in-person, and bridging the digital divide in township communities.

3 Western Cape schools complete drone piloting course

Learners from 3-Western Cape schools have completed an Unmanned Aerial Systems Course, gaining hands-on drone piloting and aviation technology skills.
The programme forms part of the province’s Growth for Jobs Strategy.
Western Cape Education Department spokesperson Bronagh Hammond says MEC David Maynier commends the initiative as a pathway into high-growth sectors, equipping young people with future-ready skills and boosting economic opportunities:

WhatsApp is introducing a new translation feature that lets users tap a "Translate" button to view messages in their preferred language.
The new feature helps users connect more freely by breaking down language barriers across its 3-billion users in 180-countries.
Translations are currently available in six languages on Android, including English, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic, while iPhone users will have access to over 19 languages from the start.
The rollout will begin with a select number of languages, with additional translations to be introduced.
