Johannesburg’s Rea Vaya phase 1C(a) is officially operational, introducing a high-speed bus rapid transit corridor connecting Alexandra, Sandton, and the inner city.
The new route provides safer, faster, and more affordable travel for over 10,000 daily commuters.
The corridor features 141 low-entry buses and a key interchange at Pan Africa Mall, linking Rea Vaya with other public transport systems.
Collaboration with local taxi associations has been key, with most operators handing over vehicles to ensure smooth operations.
The launch strengthens Johannesburg’s public transport network, connecting communities and businesses while providing safer, faster travel for thousands of residents and visitors.

Motorists can look forward to some relief at the pumps next week as fuel prices are set to drop across the board. The Central Energy Fund’s latest data shows strong over-recoveries throughout October, supported by a firmer rand and lower international oil prices.
From Wednesday, 5 November, both grades of petrol will cost around 60 cents less per litre, while diesel prices will fall by just over 30 cents. Illuminating paraffin will also drop slightly, easing household energy costs.

Chinese manufacturer Xpeng Aeroht has unveiled its first manned flying car, the ‘Land Aircraft Carrier’, in Dubai. The demonstration offered the world its first glimpse of a manned flying car in flight.
Dubai has ordered 600 units, while a total of 7,000 have been confirmed globally, as the flying car industry is projected to reach $225 million by 2040. The vehicle uses four drone-like propellers and is designed for vertical take-off and landing, showcasing the potential for urban air mobility.
