Humpback Whale Freed into North Sea

A humpback whale that had been struggling for survival after beaching near the German coast was released into the North Sea off Denmark yesteday. According to reports the whale was first spotted stranded on a sandbank near the city of Lübeck last month. It managed to free itself but became stuck again multiple times. According to rescuers the whale was later towed from Wismar Bay and released into open waters. The humpback whale is now swimming freely and in the right direction.
