Wits tops Africa in global rankings

Wits University has been ranked the top university in Africa in the 2026 Centre for World University Rankings, placing it 200th globally out of more than 21,000 institutions.
The rankings assessed universities on education, research, faculty performance and graduate employability using large-scale global data.
Other South African universities also featured, with the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, University of KwaZulu-Natal and University of Pretoria all ranked among the world’s top institutions.
The results highlight South Africa’s performance in higher education and research output across the continent.

IrunWithThemba brought runners of different ages and abilities together for its end-of-month community run at Kwabhekilanga Sports Ground in Alex on May 30.
Participants completed the run while building social and professional connections. The group uses monthly runs to promote fitness, networking, and community engagement.
Coaches and experienced runners supported first-time participants throughout the event, ensuring everyone finished the course. The initiative has also attracted support from local organisations, including the Ndaa Foundation, which provided refreshments.

Northern Cape raises R10 million golfday
