200 000 youth to benefit from Basic Education Employment Initiative

The first phase of the Basic Education Employment Initiative was launched yesterday.
President Ramaphosa celebrated the return of the initiative to townships, villages, inner cities, farms and special needs schools, bringing hope, energy and income to places where opportunities are often out of reach.
The BEEI is a flagship programme under the Presidential Employment Stimulus, established in 2020 to support the delivery of jobs and livelihood opportunities in the country.
The initiative is implemented by the Department of Basic Education and by provincial education departments. It is now funded by the UIF Labour Activation Programme and national government.

Phillip Matlhoko to Exhibit Artwork in China

A Kimberley based artist will be travelling to the Far East this week for a cultural exchange exhibition.
Phillip Matlhoko will exhibit his art in China as part of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo scheduled to begin on the 12th of June in the Hunan province.
More than 12,000 participants from 44 African countries and six international organizations have registered for the event, setting new records in both scale and international participation.
The event will feature works from artists across the African continent and the world.
